Definition
Before September 2017, HRSA used ‘parent-child’ terminology for FQHC and FQHC look-alike sites that shared grant or designation numbers. In September 2017, HRSA changed the terminology to ‘associated sites’ for these entity types, while hospital-type covered entities continue to use the parent-child (child site) terminology.
Associated sites for FQHCs and FQHC look-alikes share the same grant number or designation number. The change in terminology was administrative and did not affect the underlying eligibility or compliance requirements for these sites. The 340B ID numbers for these entities were not changed.
Understanding the distinction between associated sites (FQHCs and FQHC-LAs) and child sites (hospital-type entities) is important for accurate OPAIS navigation and compliance management.
