STD Clinic (STD)
Definition
STD Clinics receive funding from the CDC for sexually transmitted disease (STD) prevention and treatment. Section 318 of the Public Health Service Act authorizes STD funding, which is awarded to state and local health departments and academic and public health organizations.
STD Clinics are eligible for 340B participation and are identified as STD in OPAIS. They are not subject to the GPO Prohibition or orphan drug exclusion. STD medications—including treatments for gonorrhea, syphilis, and other infections—are covered outpatient drugs eligible for 340B pricing.
